Russell Square Hostel Reviews page 6
Based on 81 Hotel ReviewsFine place to stay for a night or two. I was there in July and the room was swelteringly hot because the radiator was on (in the middle of summer!). Clean, safe, quiet
Stayed for one night and the staff behind the desk and the security were welcoming and friendly upon our arrival in the early hours of the night. Rooms were clean and beds were surprisingly quite comfortable. Only downside would be the traffic noise outside, but in central London what else would you expect. Would definately book Smart Russell Sqaure again
The breakfast could have been more substantial and a bit more cleaning in the showers, toilets and rooms would do no harm. But quite ok for the price. The worst are always the other guests: the dirty ones, the noisy ones, the disrespectful ones
I have stayed at Smart Russell Sqaure 4 times and it has always been a decent enough place to stay. If you just want somewhere to sleep, get up, go out, sleep then you can't complain. Conditions are ok, cleaners always bleaching floors etc, showers clean enough. Staff try to keep noise to a minimum
The staff was wonderfully helpful. Location is good. Very clean. Occasionally super packed, mornings and evenings, there was no room to spare in the common areas
If you're looking for somewhere to stay for a night, you could do far worse. If you're looking for somewhere to sleep, forget it. As a student needing somewhere to stay for a week whilst on a work placement, I found myself surrounded by tourists who had no respect for those of us who wanted an early night. Possibly more the fault of fellow room-mates than the actual establishment. The facilities were adequate, the free Wi-Fi a bonus, but as someone in need of a decent night's sleep, I would look elsewhere
Took a while to book in (Saturday morning) but staff were friendly and helpful. We were early but they allowed us to pay and we came back shortly after to get our keycards. Six of us stayed in a six-bed bunk room. One of the duvets was wet but it was changed very quickly when we told one of the cleaners. Other than that, it was fine and as you would expect for the money. Good location
Very near to King's Cross and 1 minute away from Russell Square Underground. Room was too hot and bed was small for me for height 6ft. No hot water in room's basin. Corridor was bit noisy because of laminated floor. Breakfast was ok with bread, jam, milk, tea, cornflakes etc. Very early checkout time at 10:00. Free WiFi was provided however I didn't use. For cheap hostel near central London then I would say worth trying
I do find the Smart Russell Square a good London hostel to stay in. The staff are friendly, the facilities are good, breakfast was ok. My bed was close to the window which was opened through the night with noises coming from the outside. Overall I will score Smart Russell 9 out of 10
Very spartan. Lacks such luxuries as a chair or a table in dormitories, or a shelf under the shower, where one can put a soap. One male was incredibly rude, but the rest were ok. Cleanliness can be counted as positive. The whole building desperately needs complete refurbishment
