The staff at the reception desk are exceptionally friendly and helpful.

As a commuter, I've often stayed in cheap London hotels near work to give myself a break from travelling. I chose this place because it had better reviews than most, but it was easily the worst place I've stayed. Sure, you're never going to get beautiful decor for 40 a night, but at least other places have a bit of character - here I had a stark white room with a bare bulb, and a cheap pine hanging-rail-cum-mirror leaning against the wall, and that was it. Not even a sink. The curtain didn't fit the window. On the second night, there was no running water on my floor. On the third night, there was only running water on one floor. The toilets were obviously disgusting. There were workmen wandering round next morning, but by the evening they had failed to fix the problem, so I got a partial refund and found another hotel. A terrible experience.

For £35 per night for 2 people you can't expect much and this place is more of a hostel than a hotel. Stayed for 1 night only - any more would have been too painful. No sink or bin in room and dirty bathroom.

We stayed at the Northumberland for 5 nights while in London. The location was fantastic, right accross from Kigs Cross Station and close to heaps of food places & convenience stores.
My brother & I originally booked a double room because it was all that was available at the time of booking through travel stay but upon request they found us a twin room. Which was fantastic!!
There were a couple negatives: Because it is right accross from the underground station it was a bit noisy. Also, the shower on our level's temperature was a bit off, it either had to be scolding hot or freezing cold. But we just used another shower on a different level.
The location made up for this and the staff were extremely healpful and really nice.
I would definitely stay there again if I went back to London.

This hotel is basic but the staff were very friendly and helpful, room bed and bathroom all very clean, cannot comment on breakfast as did not have any.

Although Northumberland Hotel is under refurbishment, the staff were friendly, helpful and provided excellent service. For the price they charge and given the location (right opposite Kings Cross), you probably could not get anything better. For anyone that doesn't mind sharing a bathroom, I'd reccomend it!

The bathrooms are very clean! I had a pleasant stay!:)
