Bathroom - broken pedal bin; extractor fan not working; hook on door missing. Room - outer entrance door when shut from inside the room was unopenable from inside the room - had to phone reception with our own mobile as room had no phone; TV remote control not working; carpet dirty; nowhere to hang wet clothes; We consider the accommodation quite overpriced

Although I used Hatfield College Durham as a means of escaping an horrendous taxi fare home, I was extremely pleased with the quality of the rooms, the attitude of the staff and the breakfast. When this facility is available, I cannot see the point of using any national budget hotel which generally provide no frills (no quality, they mean) and dirty rooms. My guests (from Holland) seemed equally pleased and not least because one can walk straight into the Cathedral precincts in about one minute

Accommodation was as described - room was fairly basic but clean and it was nice to find toiletries are provided, as well as a hairdryer and a soft fluffy bath towel. Breakfast excellent. Shower was a bit basic but how much can you expect for the price?! Porter friendly and helpful and all in all I would recommend Hatfield College as long as you aren't expecting luxury. Top tip: try to get a room which doesn't overlook the street as these are a bit noisy when the traffic starts up in the morning.

Standard student accommodation, clean and warm. Excellent quiet location in the heart of Durham with beautiful views over the Cathedral, extremely welcoming and helpful porters.

Location is excellent! I had a great view of the imposing Durham Cathedral from my window. Room was clean enough, considering the price. Had a nice British breakfast. People were kind and welcoming.

Ideal accomodation for our needs. We arrived in Durham late in the evening and left early the following day to journey on to Scotland. Hatfield College worked well as a venue as a result of its proximity to the heart of the city. The accommodation and breakfast the following day were very good
