Golden Star Hotel Reviews page 3
Based on 232 Hotel ReviewsThe room looked like it hadn't been looked after for years. The sliding window was broken and was held open by a piece of wood. The walls had damp stains all down them and the carpet was tired. The shower worked well (although the bracket was broken which meant you had to hold it all the time) and the towels were nice. Breakfast (whose arrival doesn't seem to bear any resemblance to the time you asked for it) was a cup of tea (without milk) and toast with butter and jam. It is incredible value for the centre of London but it does come at a cost....
There is no reception. eventually we were given seperate rooms in the basement. The window was held up with a volvic bottle. the bedding was dirty. We had to stay here but did not like it!
It wasn't the best place to stay. There was a hole in the window, and the breakfast was inedible. The shower did not have a hook so you have to hold it up against yourself. I do not recommend this hostel.
Everything else was fine with the room at Golden Star Hostel, but the bed had some odour in it
I felt the accommodation was over priced for what was on offer. The breakfast was basic, the room was ordinary and the front desk person was overly friendly.
Room and bathroom was very small. The quality of the bed was very poor too.
Location of Golden Star Hostel is really good, you can easily see the city taking around by foot. Rooms are also ok, especially if you just need a place to take a quick sleep
Old and dirty hostel. The room had a broken window and overall it was a very bad experience. I can't recommend Golden star.
Cheap n cheerful. Friendly chap in charge. Asked for quiet room and got one. Breakfast at 0800 delivered to room. Couple of minor niggles: en suite sink took 20m to empty, only one sheet on second (twin) bed, booking form offered ensuite shower/toilet- we found it on the floor below. However, would book Golden Star Hostel again
Upon arrival we were greeted by a friendly member of staff in a cool t-shirt, who promptly showed us to our room even though we arrived before check in. The room was basic but this was expected as it was the best value hotel I could find in London Victoria, which is a great location. Although I wouldn't associate any stars with this hotel the staff did go out of their way to help us even though it was not expected. Don't expect this hotel to be anymore than a room to stay in but you can rely on the staff to look after you which is what you need from a London hostel
