My stay at Durham Castle was fine, the room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. I would like to have been told in advance that my room was one of those right at the top of the castle as it may have affected the weight of the luggage i took with me, and reassured me that I had not got lost on the way up. Also, given the heat of the days I was there, I would have liked to be able open the window more widely

I loved Durham Castle and very novel to stay in a castle. My room was comfortable and the biscuits with the coffee and tea was a nice touch. The breakfast was delicious and to get a free tour of the castle was fantastic. I certainly would recommend my friends to stay here but be prepared there are 122 steps to the top. The view from my window was worth it

Great site, great view at Durham Castle! Good accomodation, however, the stairs count 106 steps to get to your room (no elevator!) so you'll have to be in good physical condition to stay here

Durham Castle is good value for money and brilliant location in the historic castle next to cathedral! Porters were friendly and provided a travel cot for our baby which was helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. The only things that let us down were that the springs on the mattress were completely gone so it was very uncomfortable to sleep on, and the shower was only a trickle. I complained about this afterwards as well as asking about an item I had left in the room of sentimental value, but never received a reply from the receptionist despite calling and emailing, which was disappointing

Excellent stay, clean comfy room, tasty breakfast and a wonderful sunny weekend too! We have stayed here before and would book Durham Castle again

Helpful, friendly staff, quiet room perfectly adequate for overnight stay. Great location, generous, tasty breakfast in splendid dining Hall. Would definitely book Durham Caslte again over a hotel chain

Durham Castle is absolutely the most amazing place I ever stayed

We had a wonderful night stay at Durham Castle and were enchanted by the lovely surroundings. We only wish we had taken more photos before we checked out because when we were on the tour, we were told not to take pictures due to the guests staying at the castle as well as it being lodging for students during term time. We would love to come back for a longer visit in the future

Lovely place to stay. The room was big and even had a fire place in it. Very nicely updated and clean. We even got to park our car on the Palace Green between the castle and cathedral. Breakfast was included and we ate in the Great Hall. Would love to book Durham Castle again
