Notting Hill Gate Hotel Reviews page 6
Based on 66 Hotel ReviewsTop rating for cleanness and kindness. Lower rating for others. 1- rooms are small. The absence of any lift is not said. In bathroom we don't find anything to hang towels, dresses and so on. Only one type of towels were given; medium size additional towels only on request
Absolutely appalling. Completely ruined our stay in London. A complete rip off. The rooms were tiny/smelly and shabby. I’ve stayed in better in Delhi! Wouldn’t leave my dogs there for the night honestly
- Paying with Visa seemed to be unsecure because I needed to write card number and security code by hand. What happens to that paper afterwards? - We got a very small room with no windows from the top floor (5th I think) and hauled our luggage there: no help from the staff whatsoever. There were only a roof window and at times someone was walking on the roof and could easily see in our room. Furthermore our room had an awful smell and the stopper in the hand basin didn't work. We complained in the reception and were promised another room the following day and someone came to fix the stopper in the basin. These complaints didn't seem to come as a surprise however, I guess a lot of previous customers have complained about the same things. Our first room should not be used for customers at all. - The room we got on the second day was way better. There was more space and it was in better condition all the way. Still there were some complaints: 1. Heat was off between 9PM and 7AM and it got quite chilly during the night. 2. There was a fairly strong draft from the window which made it even chillier in the night. 3. The bathroom, although pleasant looking, was small and there was no space between the hand basin and the shower cabin. - Breakfast was very minimalist and the room for it was tiny. The breakfast room was used as a luggage storage during the day. It was too easy to get key card from the reception. Anyone could have asked any key card and got that. We actually got our key card from a builder man. All you had to do was to give the room number. And the key cards had to be left at the reception every time you got out of the hotel. On the other side, the hotel was clean and there was definitely some effort towards a pleasant hotel, the decorations were nice. It just fell short on many standards and all in all was not quite what we had expected
The hotel is beautiful and easy to find. Very clean. The bedrooms and bathrooms are perfect.Nice welcome. We heard the neighbours and the cars outisde a bit too much but nothing to complain about
We always stay cheap, but this was the worst ever! Don't accept room no 1! It's not even three proper beads, one was like a table with a mattress on. Small toilet with sink and on the wall and a shower. The toilet was all wet when we had a shower, you couldn't go in there after as there was no way to get the water away. 2 of 3 nights were freezing cold. 4 % fee if you pay with credit card is also too much. I will not stay there again
The best bit about the Notting Hill Gate Hotel is definately the location. I imagine for the Carnivals it would be amazing. The hotel itself is quite run of the mill but if you're just staying a short time it gives you everything you need
The Notting Hill Gate Hotel was clean. But the rooms were very tiny. Stairs were a problem with no lift to help with the heavy luggage. Breakfast was ok but the room too small to have so many people all trying to have breakfast with no space. A good price, but you only get the room with no extra's
We were so disappointed of the hotel. The room was so small (no space), small bathroom; breakfast was until 9.30am, at 9.10am you didn't eat & drink anything. Awful, I wouldn't recommend it!
I felt as though I was being ripped off from the start of our stay. First they want to charge you for using a debit card even though the money is in their bank within 24 hours, then they put us in what can only be described as a store room as it was not big enough for 2 people and a case. We complained and after threats that we would lose our money they eventually moved us to a lot better room. Breakfast was poor and the breakfast room was the most dingy place I have ever seen. On the last day we could not even get into the breakfast room and they made no effort to sort anything out so we ended up going round the corner and spending money buying a breakfast. When it was time to check out they wanted to charge us for 2 hours £5 to store 1 case in the dingy breakfast room that wasn't even being used. Absolutely hated it. Where it got 3 stars from I don't know
Horrible breakfast, not B&B worthy. Moreover, they started cleaning up the breakfast 20 minutes before closure time. The room was fine, although the bathroom was very small, very dark and no hooks to hang a towel or clothes. Very noisy as well
