Based on 49 Hotel ReviewsSatisfactory base to explore London from, cheap and cheerful
Pleasant staff and reasonably priced
Very friendly man at reception, helpful. All clean and nice
Was nicer than we were expecting considering the low rates charged,Room was small(we only slept in it) but clean and the bed comfortable, we had clean towels everyday (not expected)staff were very friendly and helpful, good choice for breakfast. We would certainly stay there again in fact my daughter who is staying on in the UK is planning to when she returns to London, very close to all the major attractions we walked to Buckingham Palace, with a supermarket around the corner, plenty of eating places within a few streets. All in all a good experiance
The staff at the Dover were very helpful and went out of their way to be accommodating. The room (a single) was the size of a match box and the bathroom ensuite even smaller but it was all clean. It is a pity there is no lift and I unfortunately had to carry my suitcase up to the second floor. As I had a room overlooking Belgrave Street it was very noisy. I would stay again if I could guarantee a back room and no stairs.
Good hotel. Breakfast not great, but ok. Room ok, but someone had party just outside our window last night we were there and partied til 4am. No air conditioning so window had to stay open. Hotel was close to everything.
I was very disappointed with the hotel. First impressions were very poor, it was dingy and the decor was very tatty. I asked for a room with a view and we ended up in the basement. Although the size of the room was fair and there were 3 beds, it smelled of old smoke and the bathroom was tiny and very basic. When we went down for breakfast, we had to queue as there were insufficient 'garden' tables for us to sit at. The continental breakfast was just cereal and toast. All in all, I was expecting much better for the price, but then again, I don't really know what you should expect in London.
Hotel was clean and convenient. We had one complaint, we requested a cab to go to the Waterloo station. A van arrived, friends of the owners, and charged us three times the fare to the station. We paid less but still more than normal. A bad business practice for the hotel! For that reason only, we will not consider that hotel again
For a 2 night stay to get your head down after a night out, really worth the money. Just hate 11am check outs when so tired
My parents and I enjoyed our stay at the Dover. The rates were very affordable and the location very convenient to public transport, shopping centre and eateries; our favourite being the Georges Pub up the road. The staff were pleasant and helpful; the rooms comfortable with ensuite, coffee and tea facilities and hairdryer. Altogether a very pleasant experience and one I would recommend for those on a budget who like a little bit extra. Regards Clare Lynch
