The room and breakfast were fine and staff helpful and friendly but the bathroom on that staircase was dirty, I know that the fittings are old but the bath was grimy and real dirt on windows and sills

On the plus side: the staff were pleasant and most helpful. Breakfast was varied and plentiful but not particularly good/hot; we liked the efforts made in the dining room to make us welcome. I slept well and the bed was clean and comfortable. Grounds were lovely and parking welcome - a bonus. Minus: the room was awful - how must a young person feel faced with such accommodation - high windows (dirty inside and out), curtains with so few hooks that they did not hang/close properly. The carpet should be replaced as should the sink (old insanitary looking and with such a noisy cold tap that my friend in the adjacent room could hear it). Poor lighting with no wherewithal for a bedside lamp. We especially disliked the unisex bathroom - unseen, but heard, male had left lavatory seat up! Poor lighting plus, in my case, visual problems meant that I would not use showers and there is no way that I would have used the old, discoloured, bath

I have mixed feelings. The place looks a bit depressing. The buildings is in a lovely college setting in a lovely green area. But arriving on a Sunday noon the place looks absolutely deserted. The building itself is a bit worn. The room is in a corridor that looks like a prison corridor. The door handle to the room was almost falling off. Once inside the room, it is very small and very basic, with worn and flaking paint, very dirty windows, and someone had been writing on the walls. But, the room, although small and worn, was adequately equipped and clean, with nice clean linen and bright curtains. The person in the next room spent his whole evening on his phone, and I could hear every word, as if the wall had not been there. Kitchen a bit bleak, but clean, and seemed to have all it needs, (microvave, kettle, fridge, even ironing board and iron), but no tables and chairs. Showers clean, and keeps a consistent temperature and good water pressure. The breakfast is canteen style buffet, good but basic, with good coffee!! I had expected this type of accommodation to have a washing machine and somewhere else to sit than in the room, like a common room, but at least I found nothing like that
