On Villiers Street itself you’ve got around twenty bars and restaurants, which is quite impressive for a street that’s perhaps 40 metres long. But that’s not counting the fact that you also have the Embankment Gardens (essentially a small and beautiful park) and all of the entertainment available to you underneath the arches, halfway up on the left from the river. The arches include the Charing Cross Theatre and Players bar, Heaven (the famous gay club), a South African produce shop and a range of other boutique shops. Villiers Street has a range of better-quality chain food venues, such as EAT and Wasabi, as well as a handful of decent independent eateries. And it’s also home to our favourite place: Gordon’s Wine Bar.
