Since 1959, the Notting Hill Carnival has grown in popularity, starting with around 500 visitors and growing to an estimated one million. The carnival started to celebrate the Caribbean population of London and has since developed into parades and floats that shut off a vast area of West London. There is plenty to do for the avid party-goer, including a parading disco bus and stalls outside houses selling home-made Caribbean food. Bars and pubs open late, though they’re by no means the main attraction, and visitors will have the most colourful weekend of their lives on Sunday 25th and Monday 26th August 2019.
