There is a (large) group of people who will tell you that Ceilidh dancing is the most fun dancing that you can possibly do. Go with a group of friends or on your own and spread out over the hall as one of the UK’s top Ceilidh bands play Celtic reels and jigs and talk you through the basic dances. In nearly every case you’ll need to pick a partner (preferably of the opposite sex) so it’s a great chance to meet new people; dances last just a few minutes, and you’ll have had great fun in the process. Dance-ophobes, don’t be put off. Most of these dances are some of the easiest out there, and even if you do get it wrong, that’s part of the fun!
