Few people anywhere on the globe would give you a quizzical glance if you mentioned Shakespeare, and so where better to immerse yourself in this cultural specialism than at the Poetry Society. Betterton Street’s humble café is, mercifully, devoid of the pretence that you might associate with poets, and offers regular calendar events (including a poetry open-mic night) and special events, as well as poetry journals, books and magazines, a lovely selection of teas and coffees and a modest but delicious vegetarian menu.
