Newspapers, magazines, local bulletins and the internet are, of course, your main sources, but word of mouth and asking questions can give you some insight as well.
 
The latter of which is why constant networking with everyone you know is also a good idea.
 
Speak to your teachers, college tutors, friends of the family, old bosses, contacts through clubs or societies that you were involved in and most importantly, people who you know that are already working in the industry that you are interested in.

If you are a graduate who has recently decided to move to London there are a number of schemes and initiatives that you can take advantage of when looking for a new job.
 
The Mayor of London's 'Helping Graduates into Work' website is a good place to start, simply enter your degree subject and a list of relevant jobs will be returned, along with career and job-seeking advice.

Jobs in London for other young professionals

The local papers are a fantastic source of job opportunities - the Evening Standard contains job adverts and names of employment agencies every afternoon.
 
Similarly, early starters can grab a copy of the Metro in the morning at most tube or train stations.
 
You can also visit your local government-funded JobCentrePlus or for under 19-year-olds the Connexions Direct services offer careers advice for young people.
 
While you are looking for that dream break it may be advisable to take up some pub or shop work to ensure relative financial stability.

Once you have found a job that looks suitable, take your time to do a bit of background research on the company before firing off a CV.
 
Find out if your goals match theirs, if you agree with what they're doing, and if the job, in fact, matches what you're looking for.
