How to get around Gatwick Airport
Gatwick Airport Train
From Gatwick Airport Train Station you can head into Central London on the non-stop Gatwick Express service to Victoria in 30 minutes. From here you can stroll to Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey. You can also catch a Southern train to Victoria, or head south to Brighton for a day on the beach in less than half an hour. First Capital Connect services operate direct trains to London Bridge in less than 30 minutes for Borough Market, London Blackfriars in 35 minutes for Tate Modern, and St Pancras International in 45 minutes to connect with Eurostar. You can even travel by train to Luton Airport Parkway in 1 hour 20 minutes en route to Bedford.
Gatwick Airport Tube
Although there’s no direct tube link to and from Gatwick Airport, the Gatwick Express train will take you straight to Victoria Train Station in central London. You can walk with ease to amazing attractions like Buckingham Palace and Westminster Cathedral from here, or you can swap onto tubes that run from Victoria Tube Station on the Circle, District and Victoria lines. This means that once you get to Victoia Station, you can then get to Oxford Street (via Oxford Circus Tube Station), the museums of South Kensington and Westminster (home of Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament) in only 4 minutes! You can travel from Victoria to High Street Kensington in around 9 minutes. The bustling stalls of the Portobello Road Market in Notting Hill are only 11 minutes away from Victoria if you get off at Notting Hill Gate!
Gatwick Airport Parking
If you’re bringing your car to Gatwick Airport you’ll find plenty of parking options available. There’s long stay parking if you’re jetting off on holiday, short stay if you’re coming to meet friends & family or jetting off on a short break, and even valet parking if you fancy a treat and the luxury of getting someone else to drop your car outside your terminal when you get back!
Gatwick Airport Taxis
To get to London from Gatwick Airport you can also book a taxi with Checkers Cars, an official partner of Gatwick Airport. This taxi company operates a fixed fare system, so you’ll always know how much your journey costs before you travel. It will take you just over an hour to travel into central London via cab. You’ll find booking offices at the North Terminal arrivals and the South Terminal entrance building.
Gatwick Airport On Foot
As Gatwick Airport is so big you won’t really be able to walk to any local attractions; the grounds of airports aren’t the best places to be wandering around anyway! However, there’s plenty to see and do at Gatwick Airport itself and in the surrounding areas – just take a look at the itinerary!
