How to get around Acton
Acton Train
Acton Train Station is served by First Great Western trains, which will transport you to Paddington Station in less than 10 minutes. From there you can connect with the Heathrow Express for a fast 15-minute journey to Heathrow Airport, or head out of the station to enjoy the sites in the surrounding areas like Little Venice’s canals and the greenery of Hyde Park. In the other direction, trains head from Acton to Greenford in around 15 minutes, passing through Ealing Broadway.
Acton Tube
The great thing about Acton is that it’s so well connected to Central London via tube. You’ll find no less than four tube stations in the district – with Acton Town on the District and Piccadilly lines, plus East, West and North Acton tube stations all sitting in the Central Line. If you took a trip on the Central Line you can reach bustling Portobello Market at Notting Hill Gate Station after 10 minutes. Marble Arch Tube Station is only 12 minutes away, which offers you easy access to Hyde Park and Marble Arch itself. If you travel the 14 minutes to Oxford Circus you can explore this shopper’s paradise, or head to St Paul’s Station in the City of London in only 20 minutes. From here you could stroll to amazing places like St Paul’s Cathedral. If you hop on a Piccadilly Line tube at Acton Town it will only take you 23 minutes to get to Heathrow Airport!
Acton Parking
The nearest NCP car park is at Station Road House. There are many other car parks about the district, but due to the highly residential character of the area, many streets have no parking restrictions at all. Off street parking at hotels in Acton is common, which is great if you’re planning on driving to your hotel.
Acton Taxis
Black cabs are always in evidence throughout the area and may be hailed on the street. However, there are a plentiful number of cab companies in the district including West Acton Radio Cars near West Acton Tube Station and Acton Cars on the High Street which is close to Acton Town Tube Station.
Acton On Foot
Acton itself spans a large area, which means that you will find it quite hard to walk to other districts without taking advantage of public transport. However if you are determined to explore on foot you should start out at Acton Town Tube Station. From here you could get to Loftus Road, the football stadium of Queen Park Rangers, in around 45 minutes. It will only take you around 50 minutes to get to the huge Westfield London or the famous Shepherds bush Empire in Shepherds Bush. Even if you fancy exploring Holland Park, a favourite amongst Londoners, this will only take you just over an hour to get to!
