Just south of the River Thames and centred around its namesake train station, Waterloo is in the heart of the city on the doorstep of South Bank and just a few minutes work from Southwark and the Houses of Parliament. The station, which is one of the city's most important travel hubs, was named after the famous Battle of Waterloo when Britain defeated Napoleon's France.

The area surrounding Waterloo is very touristy, with the South Bank Centre, The London Eye, London Dungeons and Whitehall all close by. A little further afield across the grand Waterloo Bridge, which offers great views across the city, visitors will find the likes of Covent Garden, Oxford Street and the West End.
