The higgledy-piggledy nature of The Anchor Pub is one of its main attractions, with beautiful décor from several periods of antiquity and more recently restored areas, which overall give the visitor a sense of homeliness and warmth. There is an expansive restaurant that offers good and hearty if expensive food. Its location on the South Bank on a busy touristy thoroughfare means it’s often busy, which in turn bumps prices up; but get a couple of pints with a friend as a stop off in the many different rooms and you’re guaranteed an atmospheric time with incredible Thames views.
