My family and I had a great stay in Smart City Hostel Edinburgh. Everything was basic and comfortable. The breakfast was nice, the staff friendly, the hotel clean and the location great!

Great place to stay for the weekend - was up for a stag do - friendly people - full of help. Only problem was the rooms were too hot!

Although the website promises much, this place fails to deliver. The 4-bed room was tiny and the noise outside our window at night was incredibly loud. Not a family-friendly destination. More suited to young backpacker types. Also the desk clerk in the morning needs to learn some manners! But I couldn't even 'name and shame' him, as the staff don't wear name tags. Thankfully, all the other staff we met were pleasant and willing to help. And the hostel is in a very convenient location, just off the Royal Mile.
